2007 XMAS PARTY

Held once again at the home of Julie & Ian, although this year it was at their new home they have
recently built. Starting at 11am, they had eager guests arriving as early as 10.30am, they just couldn't
wait it seems! hehe

Our gazebo was set up outside the alfresco area of the house making a delightful area decorated
with lights, tinsel, Christmas crackers and delightful nibblies. There was food galore, as always! and the
smell of the cooking BBQ was scrumptious!!

Ratties watched the festivities from their cages set around the edges of the gazebo and
of course there was the obligatory patting of cute 2 week old babies and some slightly older youngsters.

Debbie worked very hard on the Rat of the Year awards, making large charts for the entrants
both junior and senior. Julie sourced the most beautiful trophies for the lucky winners.
They were in the form of bevelled glass tiles with the logo, Rat of the Year etched into the glass.
The names of the winners will be put onto the trophies ASAP.

We had an additional award this year, the Best and Fairest Junior and Senior. We had a “Ratlow” where
Steve opened the envelopes and read out points awarded to entrants of every show we attended this year.
Debbie kept score with the able assistance of Bridget and the winners were awarded a
smaller version of the ROTY trophies.

Our Junior Members Rep, Eliza, organized some games for ratties and humans. One very funny
competition was ratties having to eat a cooked piece of spaghetti. The only 2 rats interested were
Minky and Emily, who just sat and ate 2 strands of spaghetti and were looking for more. There was
a treasure hunt and questions and answers testing members’ general rattie knowledge with those
with the correct answers getting a small surprise gift.  

I would like to say a great big thank you to Ian & Julie for the wonderful venue, thanks to those who came
along and had such fun.

Everyone have a wonderful Christmas and a fun and safe holiday. Come back refreshed for another year
of rattie fun and frivolity.
