MEMBERSHIP
PROCESS
Prospective members are strongly
encouraged to come along to one or two AusRFS events in
order to meet
some members and their ratties and learn a bit more
about the Society. All new memberships must be
approved
by the AusRFS Committee.
Once a completed membership form and
appropriate fee are received, a committee member will
contact the applicant
for a brief chat and to answer any queries. Then the
application is considered at the next committee meeting.
If for any reason the membership
application is not accepted, all membership fees paid
will be refunded in full.
The AusRFS Inc runs a fair and just
Society. New members are accepted by the AusRFS Inc
Committee in good faith,
and under the understanding that the member:
-
Joins the Society for the love
and well being of rats as their number one priority.
-
Will care for their rats to the
best of their ability, treating them as family
members and as animals
that deserve respect.
-
Will keep rats purely as a
hobby.
-
Will abide by the rules,
regulations and code of conduct of the Society
-
Attends any AusRFS Inc function
for the enjoyment of rats and the company of other
AusRFS members
and will behave in an appropriate manner and in good
humour.
-
Will at all times promote pet
rats and the Society with pride.
The AusRFS offers a cooling off
period. If within 30 days of approval of membership,
the new member decides that the AusRFS
is not for them, then upon return of their Members Kit,
membership will be cancelled and
membership fees refunded.

EXCLUSIONS
The AusRFS does not accept
membership applications from:
** Feeder Breeders (people
who breed rats as food for other animals).
** Anyone who breeds Blue,
Double Rex, Hairless / Patchwork Hairless or Manx
(tailless) varieties of rats.
It is well
documented that these varieties can suffer from very
serious health issues and the AusRFS considers
them to be genetically defective and potentially harmful
mutations.
Any member of the Australian Rat Fanciers Society Inc
found to be knowingly breeding any of these specific
types will have their membership immediately revoked.
Also since the AusRFS does not wish to promote these
varieties in any way, they cannot be brought to any
AusRFS events.
The AusRFS believes that rats
are perfect just the way they are.
They should not be deprived of their fur or tails
or condemned to a short, unhealthy life
just for the sake of fashion.

The committee of the Australian Rat
Fanciers Society Inc reserves the right to refuse or
cancel membership
if it believes a person’s behaviour,
rat keeping or breeding practices are harmful to rats or
the Society.
