Just thought i'd see if anyone was interested in "spike" lol, he is the last one left from jazzies litter, he was going to a young guy who already had a rat and he wanted another one as a buddy. After about a MONTH of on and off, saying "oh yer ill meet you then" "oh no sorry i cant meet you, im busy" (grrrr) I finally said im sorry, but i cannot be stuffed around.
So, inconclusion, he is looking for a home, i thought mabey someone in the club would be interested in him as i would much rather him find a home with a member. He is a little cinnamon berkshire, with a starfish belly (mismarked berk) and of good size and definetley a little tubby ;). He is very affectionate, licky and laid back. Would meld well with someone who already has a couple of young males.
I shall attach piccies. IF no one is interested, i shall trek on, looking for a home for him.

hehe lol understood, i really i hope he will find a home soon too, it's not any trouble having him with me, but i don't really want to have 3 boys from the same litter. I kept 2 do i could carry on the bloodline health permitting, and if one didnt turn out suitable i have backup, as i am really happy with this litter, same with janelle, both parents are awesome (aside from the dads barbering :P) and all the babies so far have had no problems (touchwood)
How are your big tubs of bruxing fluff going?
My fluff tribe is going strong, which is always good. Also, do you know when the next rattie related event is?

Hi,
All the squishes are great. They bounced back from the royal very well. Usually my rats sleep pretty much all the next day but this year they were all up bright and early hanging on the bars demanding breakfast !

The next AusRFS events are:
Sun 18 October Whitehorse Spring Festival (Display/Members Only)
Sun 25 October Nillumbik Animal & Pet Expo (Display/Members Only)
Sun 8 November Whittlesea Show
Sat 14 November Laverton Festival (Members only)
Sun 22 November Lilydale Show
Sun 29 November Peninsula Pet & Pony Expo (Members only)

Thanks for the info Wendy.
Unfortunetley just yesterday i noticed Spike (as i nicknamed him) all of a sudden has rattles
It is very sad, he was perfectly fine a few days ago, now all of a sudden he has that dreadfull rattles, all his siblings are perfectly fine so far *touchwood*, and both parents are absolutley perfect, so i guess he got the short straw
I have started him on a 21 day course of baytril, fingers crossed everyone :|
If the medication doesn't work i will try the vibravet/baytril combo, is that doesn't work then he will probably be staying with me as a little pet boy. I hope he goes o.k...

Hi, getting a bit off topic here but I was discussing rattles/myco with my rat vet a couple of weeks ago. and just wondering how his advice compares with what others are doing.

He keeps up with latest trends in treatment here and OS. He is now more inclined to use vibravet as the first treatment rather than baytril. He suggested 2 weeks on vibravet followed by 2 weeks on baytril.

He is also prescribing higher doses than he used to - for a 675gram rat - 2 rice grain size dobs of vibravet twice daily. and the baytril dose is 0.3ml up to 0.35. twice daily. If the symptoms are really really bad, use vibravet and baytril together.

I've also tried bronchodialators with no success. But the diaretic we tried does seem to help.

I also use a humidifyer/vaporising machine, I think it helps a bit.
