Ratties don't ask to
become rescues and so we believe anyone that decides to give these
gorgeous
creatures a new homes needs to understand that it needs to be a forever
home. They have
already gone through the stress & heartache of leaving their first home
through no choice of their
own, and we really don't want them to have to do that for a second time.
For this reason we
ask that you think carefully before putting up your hand to adopt a
rescue as we
don't want to have to see them back through the rescue again. As many of
these guys don't have
much of a history when they come to us, you will need to be prepared for
some teething issues when
they are settling in. Some ratties are just so grateful to get a new
home that they settle in right
away with no problems, while others may take some time to warm to their
new environment and home.
If you are planning
on introducing them to other rats we ask that you start them off in a
second cage until
they get used to the new environment before having to learn to live with
some new faces, this is especially
hard for ratties who may have been on their own all their life or for a
good part of it.
Should a rescue not
work out, and this has happened before, then they are all very welcome
to come back into
the rescue as we don't want them to live where they may not be happy. We
can always work more with them to
ensure that their next home will be better for them again.
Otherwise all we ask
is that you give them the love and devotion that all creatures great &
small deserve!
Some updates and
photos would also be wonderful J
