Using a nebulizing machine to administer an antibiotic and asthma medication, is a highly effective treatment for respiratory illnesses in rats.

​

But it can take time to purchase a machine and the things needed to set up a nebulizer to treat rats. So as a service to rat owners, the AusRFS has 11 nebulizer machine kits available hire. The kits are fully set up ready for use.

Medications are not supplied. Please  consult with your vet to see if this treatment is appropriate for your rat. Your vet will either supply you with the medications needed or write a prescription.

Location of Machines 

Ashburton, Bellfield,  Berwick, Eltham, Elsternwick, Kingsville, Richmond, Ringwood, Springvale & Thomastown. (some locations have 2 kits available)

 

Hire cost        $10 per week.

 

Deposit          $50 for AusRFS members

                       $100 for non-members        

 

Hire is only meant to be fairly short-term eg one course of treatment. If a machine is needed for a longer term, then purchasing would be a more cost effective option.
